We love a nutritious on the go smoothie of a weekend morning, mainly because we are either out running errands or off for a jog round the park - they're perfect for on-the-go. This blueberry, apple and avocado mix is packed full of powerful antioxidants to start your morning on a health nourishing note and will keep your energy levels up till lunch time.
Blueberries are high in antioxidants which help to prevent inflammation, they are high in dietary fibre, vitamins B6, C and K and also a good choice for those who wish to prevent blood sugar spikes.
Apples contain a great amount of vitamin C and fibre they help digestion and regulate your blood sugar levels.
Avocado provides many nutrients including fibre and folate this fruit is rich in antioxidants which help the body to fight free radical. They help to make you feel fuller for longer and lower your cholesterol.
Spinach is one of the world’s healthiest foods it’s an excellent source of vitamin A, C, K, E, fibre, zinc, protein, iron plus many more. It’s full of good for you nutrients and no need to worry about eating too much, the more you eat of spinach the better it is for you.
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries – we tend to like frozen berries because they have a nice cool refreshing texture, plus frozen fruits tend to keep more of their goodness when blending.
2 cups fresh baby spinach
1 cup water
Put the blueberries and spinach into a blender
Cut the apple and avocado into smaller pieces and add to the blender
Pour in the water and mix till you have a smooth paste
If you wish put the mix through a sieve to get rid of any unwanted pips or hard skin and pour into a glass and drink up, if you’re on the go put into a running cup and off you go a homemade take away smoothie!
