I love celebrities! I love their lifestyles, I love the glamour around them and I love keeping up on all the latest gossip. The magazines I buy are always full of celeb weight loss stories and of course the celeb weight gain pictures! Each week we see another celebrity weight loss story but have you ever stopped to wonder if they are doing it right?
Over the coming months I’m going to be keeping an eye on celebrity weight loss regimes and tell you who’s doing it the right way, the healthy way.
This week I’m looking at Katie Hopkins.
For those of you unaware Katie Hopkins became the first person to win The Apprentice and then turn down Alan Sugar’s job offer. She has now become quite an outspoken figure through appearances on This Morning and her column in The Sun.
A common topic of hers is the overweight. One glance through her twitter page and you can see the type of comments she often makes on this subject. To help prove her point Katie started a weight loss challenge. In this challenge, being filmed for TV, Katie has gained three and a half stone with the aim to then lose this weight to help validate her views on weight loss.
“Overweight people should eat less and move more and stop blaming everyone else for problems they can control. To prove that losing weight is not as hard as some people make out, I’m going from underweight to overweight and back.”
Katie Hopkins has said since adding the weight for this challenge “gaining weight reduced me to a blubbering wreck” and “I understand feeling self-conscious about how you look. I can empathise with being fat because I am fat. It’s hard.”
So is she right? As a nation do we make too many excuses for being overweight? Is it really as simple as we should eat less and move more?
Skinny Boo is all about trying to live a healthy lifestyle. We recommend drinking our detox tea alongside a healthy well balanced diet and with regular exercise.
Like her or not Katie Hopkins makes some valid points about weight loss and she is willing to put her money where her mouth is. That said it is unfair that she makes general sweeping statements and tarring everyone with the same brush. Everybody in the country is living in a different situation and we can’t all act in the same way.
Why don’t you tell us what you think? Comment below and have your say. Are you in favour of Katie Hopkins action and opinions or do you think she is out of order?
