Make your own cleansing drinks to help with your detox regime, pure water is plain good for us, add a few extra ingredients and you’ll have a refreshing mix of flavours that will satisfy your taste buds needs – so push out those sugary fizzy drinks and squash to make way for freshly chopped fruit. The detox waters will really help your body to flush out any nasty toxins clogging up your body.
What the ingredients do to help our bodies:
Water: H20 is so good for us, it helps us to flush nasty toxins and waste through our system, giving organs like the liver and kidney an easier time doing their job.
Lemon and Lime: Citrus fruits helps to stimulate and regulate the digestive track which can help with constipation, heartburn and gas. It stimulates bile production and thins out the bile which allows it to flow easily. Bile is produced by the liver and ends up in the small intestine to help break down the fats that we’ve consumed. Lemon can help to fight bloating and good for weight management.
Strawberries: Berries helps to curb your appetite, boost the immune system, regulates blood sugar levels and aids in the digestion process. Strawberries are packed full of vitamin C to increase your metabolism and helps to reduce bloating.
What you’ll need:
Glass Jar or bottle (try not to use plastic)
How to make:
Slice up the lemon, lime and strawberries drop into your glass jar or bottle, fill to the top with water and ice. Leave it in the fridge overnight and let the fruit infuse the water. When you want to drink it poor into a glass with fresh ice and enjoy on a daily basis.
Detox water flavour tips:
- Try swapping ingredients to add a different flavour lemon and lime for grapefruit, strawberries for watermelon.
- Pour the water into the glass container first then add the fruit ingredients. There is more of a burst of flavour when the water is placed in first.
- Try not to add too much ice, this will help to prevent it getting too diluted, instead add the ice to each cup you drink.
- Squeeze in the juice of a citrus fruit like lemon, lime, orange or grapefruit for an extra citrus kick!
